0% APR Offers
Ahh, 0% APR offers. What a wonderful thing. Thanks to these offers I have been able to have a yearly rotating 'free loan' that I can put to good use earning me free interest or using it to buy things I need. The way these offers work is when you apply for a card (or within a specified time frame after getting the card) you state which of your credit cards with a balance you would like to offload onto your new card. This transferred amount is APR-free, meaning that you pay no interest on that amount of money for 12 months, or whatever length of time (keep in mind that you still have to pay a minimum payment each month that comes right off of the balance though).
Below I have collected the best offers that are available on a wide range of cards. I have decided to only include those card with 0% APR offers that last 12 months or more as I only go for the 12+ month offers. I will try and update the list regularly, but if you happen to come across an offer that has changed, something that I don't have listed, or an offer that is no longer valid please let me know.
Reading The Chart
Length is listed in maximum number of months available—you might not qualify for the full amount if you don't have good enough credit. Under Notes I will try and list any terms, costs (average cost is 3% of the balance being transferred), and whether it is applicable to balance transfers (B), purchases (P), or both (BP).
* Business Credit Cards: Remember that any individual can sign up for a business card—not just those with businesses. Just use your own name under the 'Business Name' field when applying for the card. They will just sign you up as a proprietorship (a single-owner business). And yes, you can transfer a balance from a personal card to a business one and vice versa.
0% APR Balance Transfer Tips
Remember that if you do a 0% balance offer to 1.) stash away your new card in a drawer or something so that you will next accidentally use it until the transferred amount is 100% paid off. If you start charging purchases on your new card they will be put in line after the transferred balance, which means that they will accrue interest until you have paid off the transferred balance first. Payments made to the card will be deducted from the lowest APR balance first, which in this case is the 0% balance transfer.
Also, 2.) remember not to miss any of your monthly payments otherwise your 0% APR offer could expire. And 3.) make sure that the entire balance is paid in full before the offer runs out. Write it on your calendar or something so you don't forget. If it's not paid off you could be hit with interest fees accrued during the entire balance transfer time-frame. Not good.
Follow these rules, be careful, and you're good to go!
