Chase Freedom Card PLUS Chase Checking Account Bonus

I happened to get a letter from Chase Bank in the mail recently regarding my Chase FreedomSM credit card. It seems that all Chase checking customers that also have a Chase FreedomSM card are having their accounts automatically upgraded. Instead of getting 3% cash back in the top three spending categories, all checking account holders will now receive 3% back in the top FIVE categories. Not a bad deal!

Chase Freedom Visa Card

The Chase FreedomSM card is one of the best all-around spending cards available today. It gives you 3%+ (see below) cash back (in the form of points redeemable at a rate of 1:1 for cash) on your top three categories of spending (out of fifteen, automatically) every month. Outside of the three categories you will earn 1% back for every other dollar spent. (Update 12/01/2008: Terms have changed. They have downgraded the rewards program. See Chase site for details.)

American Express SimplyCash Card

This is definitely the best card to use when buying office supplies and wireless services. It also used to be one of the best deals for gasoline at 5% back, but that was changed recently to 3%, putting it on par with the Chase Freedom Card. There is no annual fee and the rewards are automatically credited to your statement each month. No need to deal with reward points or redemption issues. Very convenient. More information here.
